FLINT, MICH. (December 11, 2014) – A press conference will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at the Flint Farmers’ Market at 10:00 a.m. in the market atrium to announce the establishment of the Flint Police Foundation. The Flint Police Foundation will provide funding, beyond what is allocated by the city budget, to sustain and enhance the department’s crime-fighting tools needed to keep the community safe.
Mayor Dayne Walling is pleased about the announcement saying, “The new Flint Police Foundation is a great way to support public safety in the city.” Police Chief James Tolbert added, “The Foundation will have a direct measurable impact on the safety of the City of Flint.”
Among those speaking at the event will be Flint Mayor Dayne Walling, Police Chief James Tolbert, EM Darnell Earley and Foundation Chairman J. Dallas Wallgarden, Jr.
In addition to the items listed below, the critical K-9 unit needs help to sustain Edo, Flint’s new police dog who is certified in explosives detection and human tracking, and to bolster the K-9 team in the future.

• Firearms Range Training Activities
• Gun-mounted flashlights
• Additional radar units
• Help Edo and the K-9 Unit cover food, vet care and training expenses
“It is a goal of the Foundation to implement a proactive approach to community safety,” said Max R. Chiddister, Flint Police Foundation Executive Director. Board Chairman, J. Dallas Winegarden, Jr., added, “I hope with your donations we can make the Flint Police the best trained and equipped in America!”
